Does Oily Skin Need Moisturiser?

Moisturiser is a must have skin care routine all round the year, but it is also very important to understand not only dry or normal skin needs a moisturiser. Even an oily skin needs its daily dose of moisturisation and hydration

“My skin is already oily, adding a layer of moisturiser will make it more greasy” People with oily skins have commonly expressed these concerns when asked about moisturising. To understand, Moisturisers don’t usually add a layer of water to your skin but it helps to “hold” the water in the outer layer of your skin to keep it hydrated and plumpy.

These moisturisers contain different kinds of ingredients like humectants which draw water into your skin, emollients which form a protective layer on your skin and trap the water in the skin. There are different kinds of moisturisers available in the market which are suited for different types of skin.

Since everyone’s skin is different, that product which works well for one person, may not be the best product for another person. One needs to be particular while selecting any skin care product.

For an Oily skin, a light weight gel moisturiser or a water based moisturiser works best. These kinds of moisturiser gets absorbed quickly by skin and doesn't leave any kind of residue behind. They are non greasy,  non tacky and do not clog the pores.
